Support Infrastructure

The IP platform is structured as one autonomous system (AS8657) allowing for the establishment of communications through the IP protocol, with any destination accessible by Internet backbones. It integrates routers and switches that support the EGP (Exterior Gateway Protocol) and the BGP 4 (Border Gateway Protocol) type.

Supported by a redundant architecture, the IP platform connects with the national networks through SDH rings and internationally by optical fiber digital submarine cable co-owned by PT Comunicações.

The IP platform has its international connectivity distributed by:

- 3 PoPs: London, Amsterdam and Paris;
- Peering connections with hundreds of major ISPs in the above-mentioned PoPs and through direct peerings as well (see the page for a detailed list);
- IP transits to Europe and the USA.

The MID platform has the best direct connectivity and quality to the portuguese speaking countries namely Angola, Moçambique, Guiné Bissau, São Tomé e Principe, Cabo Verde and Timor Leste
