MID Prime
All access circuits to MID Prime (local loop, IP platform and links to
international backbones) are dimensioned to provide dedicated and
unrestricted IP transport services. Depending on the available
interfaces, than access rates can be configured to:
N x 64 Kbps;
N x 2 Mbps;
MID Global
This service is aimed at ISP’s who whish to access the service from
outside Portugal. The access is made through an international access
circuit (IPLC). Between the IP platform and the international backbones,
the service is totally supported by submarine and terrestrial cable
systems.
MID Burst 95
Similar to MID Prime, this service is priced in terms of the monthly
statistic distribution of traffic (the 95th percentile) allowing the
debits to burst up to the double of a contracted fixed capacity.
MID newsfeed:
Access to the Usenet service in “Pull” and “I have” modes, with rates
up to 12 Mbps.
Other services:
The following added services are available to Customers, free of charge:
- Secondary DNS;
- Usenet newsfeed
These services are integrated in the IP platform and shall be provided
whenever requested by the Customer.
Availability:
A higher than 99.5% availability to the MID service is guaranteed, for
a 12 month period. This value is calculated based on availability of the
MID Prime access, the IP platform and the high bandwidth international
links. During the years of 2001 and 2002, the availability is higher
than 99.5%. The periods of unavailability due to operating and
maintenance procedures are excluded from these calculations.
This value is achieved by means of the redundancy of the IP platform
itself, the diversity of the international Internet service providers
and semi-automatic cable protection systems.
Round trip delay:
The round trip delay between the IP platform and the USA backbones is
less than 80 ms. Considering that the MID service has direct
distribution in Europe, this value is reduced to less than 50 ms. These
values are significantly lower than those obtained in Internet access
solutions that use networks based in central Europe.
