GRX SERVICE

Basic information regarding the GRX service:

- What is GPRS?

- What is GRX?

- GRX infrastruture

Roaming can be defined as the capability of a mobile user to establish voice calls or access data services (when moving outside it’s geographical home network) using na external network.

In the GPRS perspective, a GRX operator (acronym of GPRS Roaming Exchange) is the one who offers connectivity between two or more GPRS network operators.

 GRX features

Coverage: a GRX operator has the capacity to extend to data services the traditional roaming relations of mobile operators. This connectivity is achieved maximizing the cost/benefit ratio in the network architecture (without end-to-end circuits) and introducing a higher security level than using publix Internet.

Scalability: The GRX platform can be dimensioned in order to allow for a graded evolution in terms of debits, architecture and connectivity to other GPRS operators.

Flexibility: The platform is able to use different technologies at the interconnection level between networks and ensure data transportation without any kind of restrictions.

Security: the network security level and data integrity can be tailored to each GPRS operator needs (ex: SLA implementation and QoS).

Evolution: The GRX platform can support the development of new added services (ex: SMS traffic transportation encapsulated in IP). Taking into account that the 3G mobile technologies (ex: UMTS) will be supported in GPRS, a GRX operator could, in future, route through its network all voice and data traffic originates in the 3G mobile operators mobile.
